Shipping Instructions
We grow and ship 72 and 32 cell single variety
and multiple variety flats of greenhouse propagated vegetables,
annuals and perennials. Orders for multiple variety flats are filled
by carefully packing empty 72 cell flats or 32-cell trays(which hold 3 in. pots) with fully developed
transplants pulled, rootball and all, from our inventory of single
variety flats. Each completed flat is carefully boxed together with
an identification diagram designating the color and variety of transplant
contained in each cell. Your flat is shipped the same day it is
filled.
Plants are considerably more advanced than
most plants sold as `plugs'. Actual size of transplants will vary
from crop to crop. For comparative purposes, 72-size tomatoes are typically
10 to 14 inches in height. 72-Size flats hold 72 plants. Flats are lightweight and sturdy with
cells containing a bottom hole to provide drainage as well as air
flow which prunes the tap root and encourages dense rooting that
stays intact when removed for transplanting. 32-Size flats hold 32 individual 3 in. deep pots.
| Root systems are as follows: |
72 size - 1-5/8 in. dia. X 3-1/2 in deep |
| |
32 size(3 in. deep pot) - 2-3/4 in. dia. X 4 in. deep |
| |
250 size - 3/4 in. dia. X 2 in. deep |
You may mix and match any number and any
combination of plants of the same cell size to fill or partially
fill a 72-cell or 32-cell flat, but we cannot mix 72 and 32 size
plants within the same flat as they are physically different in
size. Onion and leek transplants are sold by the bunch (25 plants-all
one variety), or in single-variety, 250-cell flats.
We work hard to fill your order with the plants
you have requested. While we try to anticipate the quantities of
each variety we will need, frequently we do not guess correctly
and become over sold on certain varieties. Therefore, we urge you
to order as early as you can so that we may enter your order into
our planting schedule. When ordering after March 31 for spring delivery,
it is helpful to include a few substitute plants to assist us in
filling your order.
We gladly accept orders for plants anytime right
up until the final shipping day. However, the allocation of plants
and scheduling of shipments is done on a first come, first serve
basis. Most orders which are received late for spring delivery will
be shipped late in the spring. Occassionaly we are able to ship
late orders on an expedited schedule if sufficient excess inventory
is available. We can ship perennials spring, summer and fall.
- You may mix and match same size transplants
in the same flat.
- You cannot mix 32-cell and 72-cell
transplants in the same flat.
- Plant prices in this catalog are based upon
full flats (i.e., 72 plants within a 72-cell flat or 32
plants within a 32-cell flat). For less than full flat quantities,
please increase plant price by 25%; for less than 1/2 flat quantities,
increase plants price by 25% and add $5 to cover box charge.
- Prices throughout this catalog are FOB at
our greenhouse unless otherwise indicated. Please add shipping
cost from table on next page.
If
payment is made by personal check or money order, you may deduct
5% from the cost of your order. We regret that for new customers
we must allow two weeks for the check to clear before your order
can be shipped. If ordering during the shipping season, please remit
a bank check, money order, or pay by credit card. Please do not
send cash through the mail, as we cannot guarantee its safe arrival.
