Asiatic and Asi-Florum (Asiatic x Longiflorum cross) lilies are the most vigorous
of all lilies, and make an extremely colorful, maintenance-free, extra hardy
perennial even in the far north (to zone 3). Both have strong stems, and a profusion
of blooms which seldom require staking. These bulbs are the largest we can find, generally 14 to 16 cm. in size (an occasional 12 to 14 cm. where the larger size is unavailable, and a few 16 to 18 cm. if we can find them), and come in a range of bright, long-blooming colors beginning in mid-June. Plant 6 in. deep, 12 to 14 in. apart. Individual colors can be purchased singly or in bags of six, all one color.

Plant tubers so that the crown is just above the surface, about 12 in. apart in the garden. Best results occur when only 1 or 2 shoots are allowed to grow. Pinch off side-shoots to encourage maximum growth of strong, thick stems. Staking is usually required when the giant blooms appear. These bulbs are the largest we can find.
